Phenomenological Interview: The Second-Personal Approach to Two-Way Construction
(Abstract)

He Jing

Today, phenomenology is not merely a conceptualized or technical philosophy; rather, it has attained vibrancy as a philosophical practice and an interdisciplinary approach in the study of various empirical sciences and social issues. The breadth and depth of these inquiries greatly credit to the application of phenomenological interview techniques. In what sense, then, can an interview characterized by a second-personal approach to two-way construction be considered “phenomenological?” To what extent can phenomenological interviews promote scientific and philosophical explorations by providing descriptions of individual experiences related to the unsolved issues? Gaining better answers to these questions requires us to transcend the theoretical boundaries between phenomenology and science, re-examining (and even expanding) the themes that originally defined phenomenology with an open and inclusive perspective.
