Governance of Aging Societies: Interdisciplinary Reflection and Prospects
(Abstract)

“Governance of aging societies” has emerged as a key topic at the intersection of gerontology, public administration, and other disciplines. Gerontology has contributed to theoretical advancements in the study of population aging responses, while public administration research has expanded the application of governance theories to aging societies. However, research on aging society governance still faces challenges, such as delayed conceptual updates and theoretical frameworks lagging behind practice. Future research in this realm should break down disciplinary boundaries, innovate the gerontological theoretical framework, and guide studies with a view of positive aging and a concept of healthy aging. It should also strengthen the theoretical foundations of social governance and build a governance system for aging societies with Chinese characteristics, aligned with the needs of the times.
