Iteration and Recursion in Chinese and Foreign Literary Theory Exchange since the Reform and Opening-up
(Abstract)
Yang Lei
Since the reform and opening-up, the exchanges and interactions between Chinese and foreign literary theories have become more frequent and deeper, and the form of literary theories has been changing. There is an inherent logic in this change, as literary theory needs to be iterated in order to solve new problems, and at the same time, recursion to tradition is still the first driving force in the development of modern Chinese literary theory. When literary theory is iterating, recursion is its fundamental logic. Therefore, literary theory presents its dual qualities: contextualization and supraindividuality.
