Reshaping the Image of Literary Characters from the Perspective of AI—Re-Exploring the Delayed Revenge of Hamlet

(Abstract)

Tan Jiayu

The mystery of the delayed revenge of the protagonist in Shakespeare’s tragedy Hamlet is a classic problem in literary history, and it also constitutes an important angle for understanding the creation of the character. Taking the two AI models Claude3Opus and GPT-4o as the object, by designing a three-stage problem framework, the author re-examines this problem and tries to compare the understanding of the character image by AI literary criticism and classical literary criticism. Compared with Hegel’s aesthetics, AI technology is good at precise analysis and objective judgment, but it is slightly inferior in the depth of philosophical insight, comprehensive perspective and diachronic understanding. It is necessary to seek breakthroughs in philosophical thinking, interdisciplinary integration and ethical considerations, so as to let technology and humanities complement each other, and jointly promote literary interpretation to a new height.
