The Ensemble of “Love”: On the Genealogy of Feelings of Dong Xi’s Novels

Dong Xi’s novels are mostly about the emotional world. Even his realistic novels often start from the desires, feelings and psychological aspects of the characters, thus forming an echoing relationship with the real world. Starting from the genealogy of feelings, we can explore more deeply the core element of the narrative of Dong Xi, the creation and change of “love.” His new novel Echoes is an ensemble of “love,” a masterpiece of Dong Xi’s writings about emotion, which focuses on the complex emotional entanglement of characters and their multiple evolution.
