(Abstract)

Xiang Jing

Teng Xiaolan, a young writer from Shanghai, is famous for writing about the city life in Shanghai, but she has also fused it with the characteristics of workplace novels in the new era, forming a unique style. Inheriting the style of storytelling and everydayness of popular literature and utilizing the literary resources for writing about Shanghai since the new era, her work finds new dimensions of life and new writing styles. She has formed a popular writing style with personal characteristics, presenting samples of contemporary life in Shanghai with “home” and workplace as the space, and the philosophy of this life.
