The Significance of “Imagery Generation” in the Creation and Interpretation of Art

(Abstract)

In the realm of art, “imagery generation” is a basic proposition of aesthetic and creative activities. “Beauty consists in imagery” uses Chinese aesthetics and artistic spirit to investigate the creation and appreciation of art. It constructs the theory and method of artistic interpretation, and embodies characteristics of Chinese aesthetics in art theory. “Imagery generation”, which is not a result of cognition, leads us to a world highly rich in implications that is instantaneously generated through aesthetic experience and artistic creation. “Artistic imagery” is not only beauty itself, but also regulates the creation of beauty.
