The Construction of a Chinese Journalism Discourse System within the Framework of National Governance

(Abstract)

Qi Tao

Ideologically, the present Western profession of journalism is a discourse system centered on independent media operation and free content production. It regards media autonomy as its key claim, conceals its political and economic requirements under scientific and ethical discourse, and presents a universalist tendency of transcending national conditions and boundaries with abstract principles. In order to dispel the arbitrary pressure of the discourse system of the Western profession of journalism and realize the organic combination of Chinese characteristics and universal significance, the discourse construction of Chinese journalism must have national governance as its general framework to gain a clearer picture of the basic features of that discourse system and must at the same time illustrate state theory and national conditions on the basis of the concept of a more inclusive nature of the state, thereby clarifying the truth of Chinese journalistic practice and enhancing the commensurability and acceptability of the Chinese journalism discourse system in the international community while contributing theoretical wisdom to the diversified development of the world’s journalism discourse system.
