Has Contemporary Imperialism Changed Qualitatively? The Latest Debates of Foreign Marxist Scholars and Their Limitations (Abstract)

The issue of imperialism has been a hot research topic for the Western left-wing theory circle since the 21st century. In recent years, scholars such as David Harvey, Prabhat Patnaik, and John Smith have debated on the North-South dependence, global wealth flows, and the contemporary applicability of the Leninist theory of imperialism. In fact, imperialism has not changed in essence but in forms of expression, showing the characteristics of its stage. Through a summary of the latest debates among foreign Marxist scholars, we can have a glimpse at the world process through theoretical reflection.
