The event of the history of economic thought is an element of broadening the horizon of research on the history of economic thought. One typical example is that, due to unreasonable evaluation criteria, the university research assessment exercise carried out in the UK from 1986 to the present have made heterodox economics endangered while strengthening the dominance of orthodox economics, therefore directing British economics to neoclassical monism. Since 2000, the economics discipline assessment in China has faced a similar situation. Under the new era of constructing a theoretical system of socialist political economy with Chinese characteristics, Chinese economics’ mode of discipline assessment must change, and it must reinvent evaluation criteria for the quality of academic papers, determine a list of journal grades according to second-level subjects, effectively improve the academic status of the knowledge system of political economics, and promote the diversification of economics under the guidance of Marxism.
