December 13 made national memorial day
On Feb. 27, the seventh session of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress enacted proposals to designate Sept. 3 as the day of victory in the war against Japan and December 13 as a National Memorial Day for victims of the Nanjing Massacre.
"Remembering history is not something we do to vent hatred, but something we do to preserve peace and prevent such tragedies from ever happening again," observed Zhu Chengshan, director of the Memorial Hall of the Victims in the Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders.
