Warm and Thoughtful Literary Criticism: An Analysis of Bi Feiyu’s Fiction Class

(Abstract)

Liu Yan

There is a reason for Fiction Class to be touching and impressive. In this work, Bi Feiyu exercises literary criticism with his own idiosyncratic method of textual analysis, which can lead to the per se of literature itself. It is warm for the frequent presence of “I,” adding a personal touch to his literary criticism while shortening the distance between critics, objects and readers of the criticism. In addition to the texts, he also concerns about writers and their creation. This is a unique advantage that literary critics who do not write lack. “Returning to literature itself,” “warmth” and “thoughtfulness” are the keywords that describe Bi Feiyu’s literary criticism.
