The Communist Party of China (CPC) in Dialogue with World Political Parties High-Level Meeting was held in Beijing from Nov. 30 to Dec. 3. Leaders from about 300 political parties and organizations in more than 120 countries were in attendance. Focusing on the responsibilities of political parties in building a community of a shared future for mankind and a better world, the meeting served as a platform for sharing experiences on party building and governance between world political parties.

Chinese President and General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Xi Jinping delivered a keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the meeting, which was praised for its far-reaching insights. Reflecting the open vision and broad mind of the CPC, the meeting was meant to tell the story of CPC to the world.

The international landscape is undergoing profound and complex changes under the influence of emerging ideological trends. In the more than 20 years that have passed since the end of the Cold War, China has defied predictions about its collapse and global developments showed that the world had not yet reached the “end of history.” The remarkable achievements that the socialism with Chinese characteristics has made have captured global attention and the more than 1.3 billion people of the nation have written a victorious story that is unprecedented. The recent gathering of leaders of so many political parties and organizations in Beijing was to figure out the riddle of “why China can.” Apparently, one cannot understand China’s changes and successes without getting to know the CPC.

At the ceremony marking the 95th anniversary of the founding of the CPC, Xi delivered a speech reiterating that the emergence of a communist party in the country was an epoch-making event. Since the time of its founding, the Party has stayed true to its mission and task, which is to improve the wellbeing of all the Chinese people, to strive for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, and to aspire for the progress of human society.

Therefore, the realization of national rejuvenation and the Two Centenary Goals are closely related to the destiny of the world and all humanity. The peaceful development of China is both an indispensable part and beneficiary of world peace and development.

The CPC does not import foreign models of development nor export the Chinese model, and it would not ask other countries to copy Chinese practice, which reflects the Party’s firm confidence in its path, theory, system and culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics.

In addition, the building of a community with a shared future for mankind that Xi proposes offers a Chinese answer to the peaceful development of humans. That the proposal was written into the CPC Constitution indicates that CPC members and Chinese people have the confidence and capability to offer its own practice for the sake of exploring better social system for mankind. As Xi said in his keynote speech at the CPC in Dialogue with World Political Parties High-Level Meeting, we call on political parties around the world to join us in building world peace, contributing to global development and safeguarding the international order. This includes building a world of universal security without terror, of common prosperity without poverty, an open and inclusive world without reclusiveness, and a clean and beautiful world with picturesque landscape and clean water.

Creating a new platform for world political parties to conduct dialogues, the CPC in Dialogue with World Political Parties High-Level Meeting will mobilize the world political parties to actively discuss and communicate with one another on an equal basis, and to seek common ground while reserving differences in coping with the challenges faced by humans toward a better world.
