In discussing the construction of Chinese hermeneutics in the context of the mutual appreciation of Chinese and Western literatures, we can start from three aspects: the question of the proper name of “Chinese hermeneutics,” the question of its connotation and extension, and the problematic awareness and theoretical vision required for the construction of the theory. The construction of Chinese hermeneutics needs to confront the various theoretical issues raised by the Western hermeneutic tradition, especially in response to the many hermeneutic dilemmas encountered by Western hermeneutics in the wake of post-modernism; to clean up the ancient Chinese hermeneutic tradition and pay great attention to the elements of heterogeneity with the Western hermeneutic tradition; the construction of Chinese hermeneutics also needs to establish an interdisciplinary sense of object in hermeneutics.
