The Hermeneutic Implications of “Words Do Not Exhaust the Meaning”

(Abstract)

Li Jian

The hermeneutic value of “words do not exhaust meaning” is that it constructs meaning in historical development, and promotes the deepening of understanding and the generation of knowledge. Therefore, it is historical, and its rationalization in history is extended through the intersection, overlap, discovery, and creation of interpretation. At the same time, it is also aesthetic. It is the basis for the formation of aesthetic interest and mood, and where the eternal charm of literature and art lies in.
