Jin Chongji is a renowned expert in Communist Party of China history and modern Chinese history. In the domain of CPC history in particular, he has published a large number of research findings that fill the academic gaps over the past few decades, and the biographies of Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, Liu Shaoqi, Zhu De, Chen Yun and other leading CPC figures that he edited or co-edited are striking representatives of this genre. Using detailed historical materials, Jin’s research on figures in CPC history returns to historical scenes, approaching historical reality as closely as possible and promoting a fair evaluation of these figures. He places them in specific historical contexts and examines the full complexity of history while paying attention to interspersing narration with commentary. Often, he adds a refreshing finishing touch to the crucial stages of historical development.
