The Clash and Reconciliation of Technology and Art: An Analysis of the Video Game Generation Process
(Abstract)
Liu Xiaoyan
In the digital age, video games are central to examining aesthetic redemption amid contemporary technological challenges. Game generation is a continuous, iterative process defined by the clash and reconciliation between human artistic intuition and technological application, as well as between heuristic and algorithmic thinking. Yet, the enframing of game engines often transforms this heterogeneous interplay between technology and art into technological capture of artistic processes. By harnessing instinctive and empathetic enjoyment as a regulatory force, it is possible to break free from these constraints, opening new technological possibilities that foster connections with others, objects, the world, and the universe. This reestablishes mechanisms and pathways for the clash and reconciliation and promotes the coevolution of technology and art.
