From the Philology to Creative Writing: Disciplinary Origins, Challenges and Developments
(Abstract)
Luo Changqing
Chinese creative writing combines foreign creative writing experiences with local cultural practices, incorporates the theoretical foundations of traditional philology and modern “writing,” and builds an innovative system that integrates the East and the West. It is an established fact that the discipline is flourishing, but it is also facing acute problems such as the contradiction between the positioning of the discipline of literature and the trend of cross-disciplinary development, the urgent need for breakthroughs in academic research and talent training, and the challenge of coping with generative artificial intelligence. Therefore, the discipline of Chinese creative writing needs to be driven by innovation to expand the influence and contribution of creative writing in public cultural services; enhance the diversity and productivity of creative writing through media integration and technological empowerment; and build an “industry-academia-research” development model by relying on industrial orientation, “creative” thinking training and “entrepreneurship” ability cultivation.
