The more than four months the Central Red Army spent in Guizhou during the Long March was especially important. In such an extremely complex and dangerous environment, facing many uncertainties, one reason for the Central Red Army's ability to break through the Kuomintang encirclement, going from passivity to taking the initiative and blazing a new path, was that it proceeded from reality and made frequent decisive and flexible adjustments to its direction; another reason for its success in Guizhou was its strong spirit.
