Humanities and social sciences journals need to play their part in building a socialist cultural power and realizing the great rejuvenation of China in the new era, scholars said at a recent forum.

More than 90 journal editors, experts and scholars attended the sixth High-Level Forum for National Humanities and Social Sciences Journals on Oct. 22 in Zaozhuang City, Shandong Province. Zhang Jiang, vice president of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences made remarks at the opening ceremony of the forum.

The forum covered a range of topics, including the development of Chinese journals, editorial features of Chinese academic publications and evaluation standards, and changing concepts of academic publications in the internet age.

Attendees agreed that humanities and social sciences journals should strive to keep pace with the times in the context of multimedia integration, reform and innovation. They should adhere to the correct ideology and academic ethics while promoting academic research and innovation to adjust to an increasingly complex, pluralistic academic environment and social setting.

In addition, different journals and periodicals should further strengthen integration and form a scale effect of multi-channel academic communication.

It is also crucial to form a high-level editorial team to contribute more to the development of Chinese philosophy and social sciences research to provide more positive and inspiring publications for the readers.

The forum was jointly held by Social Sciences in China Press and Shandong Academy of Social Sciences.
