(Abstract)

Based on data from a national sample survey, this article provides an in-depth discussion of educational experience and inequality of opportunity among the post-80s generation. It focuses on examining the gap between urban and rural areas and the inequality among social strata in terms of educational opportunities, responding to the debate aroused by “The Silent Revolution.” Data analysis reveals that although there has been a notable quantitative increase in educational opportunities, such problems as the widening educational gaps between urban and rural areas and the unequal distribution of high quality educational resources still exist. Policy-makers in the field of education need to make more effective policies to improve this situation.
