The Open Text: The Three-Dimensional Relationship of Body-Mind-Matter in Scenario Integration

(Abstract)

Wang Qian

For Wang Fuzhis theory of situational relations, two interpretations have been put forward, namely a subject-object dualism, and going beyond the dualism, seeking its original meaning from the cultural tradition of the unity of Heaven and Man. A third way of interpretation is posed here, which can break through dualism while be compatible with modern knowledge and discourse systems. Bergson’s discussion of the relationship between mind and body inspires us to focus on the dimension of the body when thinking about the relation between qing (emotion) and jing (material condition). In this way, we can finally consider the “integration of qing and jing” as an aesthetic experience leading to an organic worldview.
