China was a crucial partner for Argentina during a hard period of transformation, said Diego Guelar, the Argentinean ambassador to China, at a symposium held on July 16 in Beijing dedicated to the future development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Argentina. Hosted by the Institute of Latin American Studies (ILAS) at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the symposium also marked the establishment of the Community of Studies on Argentina in China, which will coordinate between various Chinese research institutions engaged in the field. The structural transformation of the economy for a more sustainable development is both unavoidable and difficult, especially for developing countries like China and Argentina. Reforms require cultural, institutional and intellectual creativity, and that is exactly the goal of the community, said Wu Baiyi, director of the ILAS.
